You’ll need to wash the Hakama before wearing it, or you’ll turn blue; the dye will bleed much less after 3 gentle washes. It arrives with the pleats secured in place by white stitches. Leave the stitches as-is for the first 3 washes, they will help to keep the pleats in shape. The cotton will wrinkle, so iron the Hakama with a towel over it to avoid iron-shine. All-in-all, it’s a very nice Hakama.

I'm very pleased with the weight and overall quality of this Hakama. I recommend leaving the white pleat-keeping threads in place for the first couple of washes. This will help keep the pleats intact and easier to iron.

Hey, I just received my new hakama. The shipping was very fast - 5 days from ordering (even though it came from Shanghai). The hakama is amazing, the real thing, great material and shape. Of course, I washed it immediately 2 times, (or it will leave a lot of indigo on your skin (that is how the real indigo dye should do).
